Medicare Telehealth Flexibilities Clarification
National Government Services (NGS) has received several inquiries regarding the submission of claims now that Congress has extended the telehealth flexibilities from the Public Health Emergency.
With the passage and presidential signing of the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2026, the telehealth flexibilities that had previously expired on 1/30/2026, were reinstated retroactively and through December 31, 2027. This means that all provider specialties may again provide services via telehealth with no geographic restrictions and patients may receive telehealth services from their home as provided for any telehealth service.
If providers were holding claims or did not submit a claim for a telehealth service impacted by this, then you may submit a claim for consideration under the continuing telehealth flexibilities.
As mentioned above, the telehealth flexibilities will continue through December 31, 2027, at this time.
