Legislation (S.2718-A) is currently before Governor Cuomo, which would correct an oversight in the workers’ compensation law and permit PTA’s to participate in the care provided to injured workers. He has until November 28 to approve or veto the legislation. NYPTA has sought passage of the legislation for a number of years as it recognizes the role PTA’s play in the delivery of physical therapy care and it will allow for more efficient and effective care delivery. The New York Workers’ Compensation System is a complex system with relatively low reimbursement making it a difficult for physical therapists to participate in the system. S.2718-A would address one unnecessary limitation within in the workers’ compensation system. Please let Governor Cuomo know that you support the legislation.
