Important Update on Hands-On Continuing Education Instruction

Per a recent ruling from the New York State Education Department, continuing education that involves hands-on physical therapy instruction constitutes the practice of physical therapy. Therefore, only physical therapists who are licensed and currently registered in New York State may conduct or teach hands-on CE courses.

Process for Providers

How to Apply for CE Credit Approval
  • Payment must be received prior to applications being submitted. Payment can be made by credit card or check. If you are unable to pay online, checks or money orders may be sent to the APTA New York Chapter Office at P.O. Box 592, Wynantskill, NY 12198. 
  • Once payment has been received, you will receive a payment confirmation. This confirmation must be included with the CE application.
  • Completed applications, supporting documentation and payment confirmation should then be submitted via email to Karen Curran: nyptceapproval@gmail.com. Applications or payments submitted via the US Postal Service may be subject to delay in approval response time.
